About
Student Expectations

  1. The student body of the London Program is comprised of all students participating in the current enrollment period. Such students shall be subject to such ordinances, rules, regulations and restrictions as may now be established or hereafter be established by the administrations of the home institution of enrollment, as well as the administration of the London Program.

  2. Students enrolling in the London Program assume an obligation to conduct themselves in a manner compatible with the London Program and their home institution of enrollment. As a condition of admission, each student concedes to the London Program administrators and faculty the right and responsibility to establish and to enforce regulations necessary to preserve the generally accepted standards of scholarship, integrity, and conduct. Each student is expected to conduct himself/herself so as to maintain an effective environment for learning, to act responsibly in accordance with good taste, to respect fully the personal property and rights of others, and to assume responsibility as a member of a neighborhood for maintaining good community relations.

  3. Obstruction of London Program teaching, research, administration, or other London Program activities; indecent conduct or speech; failure to comply with requirements of London Program staff/faculty in performance of their duties; and violation of the regulations and/or laws of the London Program, the institution of their enrollment, the United States, or the city and country in which the student is a guest are examples of conduct which would contravene this standard of student expectations. Removal from the Program of students who engage in serious infractions of these standards/requirements governing all forms of student conduct may be in the best interest of the London Program. Student Handbook contains more specific information concerning student conduct and related disciplinary action.

  4. Students are under the direct supervision of London Program faculty and staff when participating in London Program activities and are responsible for their conduct wherever they are. As a courtesy, students are expected to sign out of the London Program residence (citing their destination and estimated time schedule) whenever they plan to be absent overnight or to travel out of London.

  5. Students must enroll in at least 12 semester hours. Students are required to attend all lectures, seminars, laboratories, and field work for the London Program classes in which they are enrolled, and to complete all work assigned by the instructor. Advance arrangements for unavoidable absences should be made with the instructor and/or the London Program Director whenever possible. Neither absence nor notification of absence relieves the student of the responsibility of meeting all course requirements.

  6. Students may adjust schedules during the first week of the Program only (excluding the Summer Program, in which no adjustments may be made). Changes must be made by the last class day (Thursday) of the first week. Such adjustments must be communicated to the home campus director immediately. At no time will a student take less than 12 semester hours in the fall and spring semesters and 3 semester hours in each summer session.

  7. Make up of class work or examinations missed because of absence is worked out between the instructor and the student upon the student's initiative. Absences may result in the student's being dropped from the course at the request of his/her instructor.

  8. London Program students have the responsibility for following the enrollment policies of their home institution of enrollment. Special care must be exercised in any change of enrollment, such as adding or dropping classes, in order to assure timely and accurate interaction with the home institution.

  9. The grade review policy for the London Program is as follows:
    • The student must write a formal letter of appeal to the faculty member.
    • If the faculty member fails to respond and the student chooses to pursue the matter, the student's home campus grievance policy procedures are followed.

  10. As a part of the grade review policy, faculty members are required to include specific course (i.e., grade) requirements in the course syllabus. Students and faculty members must keep any graded material from each class.
Should a student fail to live up to the above expectations, his or her actions are subject to review by a judicial committee of three (3) students and one (1) faculty member convened by the Resident Program Director.  Upon the committee’s evaluation, the student will be officially reprimanded and a record of the behavior and judicial outcome may be filed with the program and home campus.  If the student continues to behave in a manner unbecoming, the Director, in consultation with the moderator of the London Program, has the authority to remove the student from the Program.
