Social and Cultural Activities

During your term in London, International Enrichment (I.E.) will be organizing several optional social and cultural activities which have proven to be enjoyable and beneficial by previous participants. With most of these group bookings, we are able to secure better rates which we then subsidize and pass the savings on to you. During the initial orientation meeting you will be informed on details, terms, conditions and how to sign up for these various activities. You must pay for these optional activities when you sign-up or have it deducted from your Activity Deposit. Space is limited so early registration is advised. Other activities may be added during the course of the program based on the interests of the group. You are always welcome to stop by the I.E. office to discuss these optional activities.

Valjean is caught and brought back by the police, and is astonished when the Bishop lies to save him, also giving him two precious candlesticks. Valjean decides to start his life anew. Mayfair Walking Tour
"the best address in London" a boulevardier and a place where Old Masters and old money, Rolls Royces and glamour, titles and butlers are par for the course. It's hob-nobbing with knobs on it - because Mayfair's been home to Admiral Nelson (and his mistress Lady Emma Hamilton), Clive of India, Disraeli, Handel, Florence Nightingale, Peter Sellers, Jimi Hendrix, Dodi Fayed, and the Earl Mountbatten, to name but a few. Last but certainly not least, it boasts London's best village within a village - Shepherd Market, a charming little nest of alleys that hasn't lost a jot of its 18th-century scale and village atmosphere, let alone its raffishness.

Literary London Walking Tour
Which famous authors worked and lived the Bloomsbury area? Learn more about Anthony Trollope, EM Foster, Arthur Conan Doyle, Oscar Wilde, TS Elliot, Virginia Woolf and Charles Dickens. Where did they lived, who did they know, who were their loves, (famous for living around Russell Square, however they were known to ‘live on the square, but conduct triangular relationships with one another’) and of course their famous works of literature!

Jack the Ripper Walking Tour
In 1888 London was being subjected to a reign of terror as a mysterious lunatic played his fiendish game of cat and mouse with the police, leaving women so badly mutilated that people feared to walk the streets. The ‘Ripper Murders’ took place in the insalubrious Whitechapel area of East London. The world’s first serial killer was never caught. To this day, criminologists, ‘Ripperologists’, historians and amateur sleuths are no closer to discovering who the murderer was. Find out more on a walking tour…

Hampton Court and Windsor Castle
Join our Residence Assistant for a day trip to two of England’s most famous Royal Palaces. Hampton Court, for almost 200 years, Hampton Court Palace was at the centre of court life, politics and national history. Although often identified with Henry VIII, its history was influenced just as much by William III and Queen Mary II in the late 17th century. Windsor Castle is one of three official residences of The Queen and has been home to the Sovereign for over 900 years. The Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world and the oldest in continuous occupation. The imposing towers and battlements of the Castle loom large from every approach to the town, creating one of the world's most spectacular skylines. No other royal residence has played such an important role in the nation's history.

Leeds Castle
There's only one way to discover why Lord Conway described Leeds Castle as 'The Loveliest Castle in the World' - and that's to visit it for yourself! Step back in time with the Leeds Castle movie for a glimpse at the Castle's illustrious past or come right up to date with a look at the attractions within the 500 acres of glorious grounds surrounding the castle and its moat. The aviary is home to over 100 species of endangered birds.
