Once you get used to traffic driving on the left,
London can be safely explored on foot, but make sure to pay attention
when crossing the road. There are two types of pedestrian crossings in
London. There are striped zebra crossings, such as the one the Beatles
crossed on Abbey Road. These crossings are marked by beacons. The other
type of crossing is a push button crossing. Traffic will stop for you
if you are walking at a zebra crossing, but at push bottom crossings
cars will not stop until the green man lights up. Look out for
instructions written on the road. These come in handy when trying to
decide which way you should look for traffic to come from.
