Finding a Place

One of the challenges of being academically successful while studying in London is finding a place to study. The rooms do not have individual desks for each student, which can make things kind of uncomfortable. Doing homework in the flat is the most common place to study, but there are many other options for students. There are libraries near by, as part of London's vast network of 395 libraries. Those are available to everyone. Students cannot use libraries at Imperial College because they are not technically paying tuition to the school itself. But there are many other places to study. Those include the Junior Common Room in the Sherfield building, the classrooms used by the program in the student union, and other student lounge areas.

Around London, Hyde Park and Holland Park are favorites of students from years past when the weather is warm. There are plenty of shady trees to relax under. There are also a large number of coffee shops nearby, including Starbucks, Coffee Republic, Costa, Cafe Decco, and Cafe Milano. Many of these places have wireless internet access, although it costs a lot of money, sometimes as much as £5 per hour.

Quiet Hours

Quiet Hours are from 11pm-7am Sunday-Thursday, and from midnight-7am Friday-Saturday, to help students get rested and get studies completed. RA's will hand out fines if quiet hours are not respected by students in the flats.
